Crosspoint Human Services
- Client/Developer
Crosspoint Human Services was formed in 1986 by combining the
services of the Vermilion Mental Health and Developmental Center
incorporated in 1955 and the Retarded Children’s Center
incorporated in 1964. Crosspoint is an Illinois private,
not-for-profit corporation serving Vermilion County. It is
governed by a thirteen member voluntary Board of Directors, who
invite participation by the people it serves.
Crosspoint serves persons who are experiencing
emotional, familial or marital stress or more severe acute or
chronic psychiatric disabilities. Other people served experience
developmental delays or disabilities. Some experience both
mental and developmental disabilities. Each of these three
groupings have some individuals who abuse drugs. That behavior
makes worse an already difficult situation in treatment. Some
people show dramatic improvement with brief interventions,
others require extensive and lengthy services. Crosspoint is
prepared to work patiently with all people in meeting their
individual needs.
Crosspoint is licensed by the Illinois
Department of Public Health to operate a Community Living
Facility and is licensed by the Illinois Department of Human
Services to provide Medicaid mental health services, Community
Integrated Living Arrangements, and Day Training.
Crosspoint is funded by the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Probation,
Illinois Department of Human Services, Illinois Department of
Public Aid, Vermilion County Mental Health 708 Board, United
Way, donations, consumer fees and private contracts with long
